Paul Augustin Aizpiri , born in Paris in 1919.
He studied at the "Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Paris". The public started acknowledging his talent in 1940, and he won their admiration after his exhibitions in many countries.
A painter and graphic artist, Aizpiri combined Expressionist and Cubist element to produce some fantastic images. He also practiced lithography particularly in his illustrations for Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew.
The 1950's marked the beginnings of the artist's international success and recognition and major critical acclaim. He exhibited at the "Biennale de Venise" and he obtained the "Prix National".
In 1951, he won the Prix National.
Since 1963, he has submitted his work to every International Figuration Exhibition as a guest of honor.
Possibly from his Basque background, he uses vivid Spanish colors that are filled with passion. His fans in Japan have loved him for a long time as well. In 1966 the Aizpiri Museum in Japan was opened and featured a retrospective of his works. And in succeeding years Aizpiriķs work has been represented in many art galleries, acquired by major museums, important public institutions and fine private sectors throughout Europe, Asia and the USA. ...
