Born in Lyon, France in 1963, Isa grew up in a family which cultivated artistic endeavor.
Isa's father was a successful magazine publisher and writer and her mother was immersed in all of the creative aspects of the fashion industry. As a young three year old, Isa showed remarkable artistic skills. At the age of seventeen, Isa studied fashion illustration. Then she went on to study painting under the direction of renowned painter Patrick Breyse. All the while, Isa was surrounded and influenced by the rich and expressive passions of her French culture.
In 1985, Isa emigrated to the United States and it was there that she committed herself to becoming a painter on a full time basis. She rapidly developed a unique, personal artistic style that has captured the attention of serious art collectors throughout the world and the media as well.
The mystery and vitality of her style comes alive in her dreamscapes which activate your fantasies. Isa's upbeat paintings are stirring and indeed amazing in their fantastic compositions which present the rare and sometimes unexpected interplay between the exotic and eccentric characters that perform their feats of daring in a weightless environment. Her creations often evoke memories of the 1920's "School of Paris."
Isa's extraordinary sensitivity and her special gift of discovering hidden mysteries are at the source of her art - an art both subtle and profound. One of the inherent qualities of an Isa D'Arleans painting is its charm: the gentle insinuating spells cast by vibrant, harmonizing color, the intricate balance of composition and the glow of wondrous light. Isa's paintings remind us that amid our tribulations, much enchantment still exists in the world.
