Le premier ouvrage important publié après autorisation judiciaire depuis la mort de l'artiste et célébrant le centenaire de sa naissance. Le plus parisien des peintres Japonais. En 1959, par la vertu du baptême, Tsuguharu Fujita devient Léonard Foujita. Un seul peintre pour deux noms ! Un seul peintre qui naît au Japon dans la maison de bois et de papier d'une famille de samouraï de haut rang et meurt en Occident, baptisé et Français, au terme d'une longue existence d'amitié avec la France. Par pensée, par habitude de définition, l'Est qui voit se lever l'astre du jour et l'Ouest qui en admire les feux du couchant s'opposent et se contrarient. Et pourtant, phénoménal migrateur Japonais, Foujita a ouvert toute grande la porte par laquelle l'Est rencontre l'Ouest.
The most Parisian of Japanese painters became "Léonard" Foujita when christianed in 1959.He was born in Japan in the wood and paper home of a high ranking samurai family. And died christened and French after a long life in France. "East is east and west is west, and never the twain shall meet" is a famous saying. In Foujita's life east and west merged as one.
