Salvador Dali - Las Esculturas 1969 - 1976.
This Collection was modeled in wax at the artist's home in Port Lligat, Spain from 1969 to 1976 and acquired by his friend Isidro Clot.
(Carmen - Castanets) circa 1970.
The sculpture 'Carmen - Castanets' is an image of Mediterranean antiquity. Carmen is shown as a beautiful Minoan dancing at Knossos to the sound of the shells which she holds in her fingers, the forerunners of castanets. This Carmen represents that wonderful concentration of all types of Mediterranean dances, which was later to become a symbol of Spain in the form of flamenco.
