- This is numbered _ from a limited edition of 35.
- Bronze, technique of the lost wax.
- Green patina.
- Published by Camblest, London (Inter Art Resources Ltd. Editor).
- Foundry: Perseo, Switzerland.
- Year: conceived in 1980 - First Cast: 1980.
- The sculpture has Dali's signature, foundry stamp, editor stamp and the edition number impressed in the bronze, is mounted on a Marble base (4x21x10cm).

Edition Size:
- 350 exemplars numbered 1/350 to 350/350.
- 35 exemplars numbered E.A 1/35 to EA. 35/35.
Three different patinas, green, blue, gold.

Dali Sculpture Collection:
Dali has isolated the central image of his best-known painting and given this sculpture the same title. It is a simple figure consisting of a limp watch draped over the branch of a tree, the classic symbol of life. In his words, "Materialization of the flexibility of time and the indivisibility of time and space. Time is not rigid. It is one with space - fluid". Dali examines the human perception of time: the speed of time, while precise in scientific use, is widely variable in human perception. When we are involved in pleasant activities or in work that absorbs all our attention, 'time flies', but when we are mired in boredom or discomfort, it drags. The limp watch no longer 'keeps' time; it does not measure its passage. Thus, the speed of time depends on the
individual.

D’après l’huile sur toile célèbre de 1931, la Persistance de la mémoire, Dalí isole la figure centrale de cette oeuvre peinte, la matérialise en réalisant une sculpture monumentale en bronze portant le même titre. Selon le maître : « Le temps n’est pas rigide. Il est un avec un espace-fluide ». Le caractère mou et déroutant de l’horloge représente autant l’appréhension psychologique du temps que la vitesse réelle du temps, malgré sa précision dans la définition scientifique. Ainsi, la notion du temps est très variable selon la perception humaine.
