THE SOUL OF DON QUIXOTE 1969.
In This work Dali shows the Knight Errant alone with his dreams and fantasies. Neither lance nor steeds are necessary for him to set off to defend a new just cause. He goes on chasing scoundrels, dragons or giants, thinking of his beloved Dulcinea or captive maidens, the destitute, distressed duennas or young boys beaten by pitiless masters.
The soul of Don Quixote is Don Quixote. Cervantes' character is a soul that grieves for others,
without injustice, cruel act or lack of humanity.
Don Quixote is running alone on a plinth of intertwined hands beseeching his help in their distress, comfort in their sorrows, and support in their many afflictions and miseries.
Helmet and shield, and for a lance, his soul. Here Dali has turned the Sad Knight into a giant, using only his spirit to fight the “dwarfs" of the Earth.

GUARANTEED FULLY AUTHENTIC AND AUTHORIZED DALI PIECES.

Salvador Dali - Las Esculturas 1969-1976.
